BANANA NUT BREAD: A yummy treat for Christmas giving or anytime year round!

3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 egg, well beaten
1 stick butter, melted and cooled
1 ½ C flour
1 C sugar
1t salt
1t baking soda
½ C chopped nuts
Directions:
In large mixing bowl, mix together bananas, egg, and butter. Sift together the flour, sugar, salt, and soda and stir into banana mixture until well blended. Add nuts.
Pour batter into loaf pan (9x5inch) and bake at 350 for 55-60 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean.

PEPPERMINT MELTAWAYS

½ C powdered sugar
1 C unsalted butter-room temperature
½ t peppermint extract
1 ¼ C flour
½ C cornstarch
GLAZE
1 ½ C powdered sugar
4 T water
¼ t peppermint extract
Red food color
Crushed peppermint candies
Directions:

Cream the sugar, butter, and peppermint. Slowly add the flour and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly. Chill dough for 1 hour. Roll into 1” balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350. Cool completely.
GLAZE: combine sugar, water, and peppermint. Mix until smooth. Add food coloring. Top cookies with glaze and sprinkle candy on top. (makes 4 dozen)

HOLLY LEAVES

½ C margarine
1 pkg marshmallows (10 oz)
1t green food color
6 C corn flakes
Red cinnamon candies
Directions:
In large saucepan melt margarine over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in food color. Add corn flakes and stir until well coated. Use buttered fingers to shape holly leaves and dot with cinnamon candies.
