Fresh Pine Centerpiece: These
arrangements cost very little to make a beautiful centerpiece for your Christmas
table.
Supplies:
Container for centerpiece (bowl, planter, etc)
Floral foam for fresh flowers
Small gold Christmas bulbs
Fresh Pine and Spruce branches
Pine cones
Floral wire
Waterproof glue (household goop)
1-3 Candles
Faux Snow or white or gold paint
Paint Brush
Ribbon
Directions:
Glue the floral foam to the center of your dish. Allow the glue to
dry completely. Place your candles in the center of your foam and add enough
water to completely saturate the floral foam. Begin inserting pieces of pine,
starting at the outside edge of the foam and working your way toward the center.
Add any springs of pine or spruce throughout the arrangement to cover any hollow
areas. To add pine cones to your arrangement, simply wrap floral wire around the
bottom of your cone, and twisting the wire to secure it to the cone. Leave
enough excess wire so that you can insert the wire into the foam. Half of
the pine cones used in each arrangement has white snow added to the edges of the
cones. To do this, simply paint on a little faux snow (white paint works too)
along the edges of the pine cones. Add a few Christmas or Berry Picks, a ribbon
or simply add a few artificial floral leaves.
Coffee Filter Angels:
Make these heavenly angels with coffee filter gowns and wings.
Supplies:
3 coffee filters
3-1/2-inch foam cone, such as Styrofoam
1 round toothpick
1-inch foam ball, such as Styrofoam
12 inches of 1/4-inch-wide gold ribbon
White thread; hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
1 gold plastic ring
Directions:
Center one coffee filter on the top of the cone. Push the toothpick
three quarters of the way into the cone and filter. Push the 1-inch ball
onto the toothpick to add the head. Center the second filter over the
head. Tie a ribbon bow around the neck. Fold the third filter in half
and pleat at the center to form wings. Tie in the center with thread.
Hot-glue the center of the wings to the back of the angel at the neck.
Glue the ring to the top of the head for a halo.
Christmas Napkin Ringlets:
Turn paper napkins into Christmas trees!
Supplies:
Pencil
Colored card stock
Scissors
White glue
Glitter
Green paper napkins
Clear tape
Directions:
Using a large drinking glass, trace a circle on the card stock, then cut
it out. Starting about 1/4 inch in, begin cutting a spiral. When you
reach the center, leave a small circle. From another piece of card
stock, cut out a star and decorate it with glued-on glitter. Glue the
star onto the center of your spiral. Roll your napkin into a cone (the
tree) and tape it to secure. Pull your spiral apart and place over the
napkin, cutting off any excess spiral. To make your trees stand tall,
put them over your drinking glasses when you set the table.
